Welch: U.S. must be ‘candid’ about data mining

Tuesday June 25, 2013 BRATTLEBORO — The man accused of leaking National Security Agency secrets to the press broke the law and must be prosecuted, U.S. Rep. Peter Welch said Monday.

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., has introduced legislation that would "put strict limits on sweeping powers used by the National Security Agency." Sanders’ office has said the bill "would put an end to open-ended court orders that have resulted in wholesale data mining by the NSA and FBI."
