When a brand/business/organisation does something wrong, the fallout can often extend way beyond the ‘real-life’. Negativity spills out across the web on forums, Twitter, Facebook and so on.

Many of the original justifications for GIS were based on cost reduction.  The cost of data collection to create the map typically rendered the business case marginal. Today location data may be streamed from any mobile device. Determining what is relevant to the enterprise business process is the important step for this decade. Since time is still today’s currency surely the real winners from these technology trends should be insurance companies and the police?
